Macmillan Publishers first published The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling in 1894, followed by The Just So Stories in 1902. 2016 marks 150 years since Kipling's birth and Macmillan is celebrating with new editions of the classic books, as well as publishing new writing inspired by these familiar and well-loved stories.

Today Macmillan Publishers still publishes the best in children’s books, including best-selling and award-winning authors and illustrators, such as Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, the current Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell and Frank Cottrell Boyce.

Macmillan Publishers is delighted to be partnering with Cubs 100 in their special year. The organisation has a long standing connection with The Jungle Book – the Leader names are taken from the original story – and Macmillan is supporting the anniversary by publishing a specially produced book of short stories, with extracts from both The Jungle Book and The Just So Stories. The book will be available for free at the National Takeover Days on Saturday 24th September.

Moone Boy Smores

A year is a very long time when you're an idiot. To cope with the curse of the calendar, Martin Moone has developed the habit of dividing the year into smaller sections, or 'yections'.

To celebrate the publication of Moone Boy: The Marvellous Activity Manual, publisher Macmillan Children's Books have created one marvellous week of 'yections' blog posts, to showcase just some of the brilliant activities that can be found inside this ultimate companion guide for Moone Boy fans for every yection all year round.

Today we're celebrating our summer yection (or Yection 5: Days of Wonder, as Martin would say). Camping trips may well be over for another year, but thanks to Trevor's Mother we can make our favourite camping snack s'mores all year-long and pretend that we are camping under the stars, with a mouth full of delicious gooey magic.*

*Make sure you have adult supervision while toasting your s'mores!
